Transportation

  • All cars parked in Observatory lots at 60 Garden Street during business hours (8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.) must display a parking permit.  Daily permits are $12/day for affiliates and $20/day for non-affiliates.   The cost for visitor's permits valid after 5 p.m. weekdays, and all day Saturday and Sunday, is $6 for affiliates and $10 for nonaffiliates. More information about permits can be found here - http://transportation.harvard.edu/parking/visitors/online-daily-permitsexternal link. The name of the lot is "Observatory Lot".
  • Bike racks are located at the main entrance and second floor back entrance.  Resources are available to bikers on the Harvard Commuter Choice Bike pageexternal link including discounted helmets, benefits, parking on campus and bike share programs.
  • Students, faculty, and staff are strongly encouraged to register their bicycles. Registration serves as a deterrent to theft and can help in the recovery of stolen bicycles.   • Blue Bikes (formerly Hubway)external link bike share is in the process of adding 100 stations and 1,200 new bikes.   • Motorist Assistance Program (M.A.P.)external linkfree-of-charge to all faculty, staff, students and visitors parked on Harvard University property who need help changing a tire, charging a dead battery, retrieving keys that have been locked inside a vehicle or run out of gas. 617-496-HELP (4357)
  • Harvard Shuttleexternal link - routes from the quad (across the street) to Memorial Hall 
  • Evening Van Serviceexternal link - transports faculty, staff, and students safely around campus as a supplement to our fixed route shuttle bus system.  Requires downloading an app.
